Influenza A(H1N1) has already been confirmed in many parts of the world. In Argentina the virus appeared in the beginning of the winter and the laboratory-confirmed cases has increased in significant number during the last month. The national authorities of the Health Ministry and infectious diseases specialists of the Sanitary Service confirmed that “influenza A” cases will peak in the next 10-15 days, decreasing in August-September. We understand that this situation is not different from that in other countries in the Southern Hemisphere that are in winter season now. Also the World Health Organization (WHO) is not recommending travel restrictions related to the outbreak of the influenza A(H1N1) virus. That is why the Organizing Committee of the IBS-2009 confirms the event will take place in Bariloche on 13-17th September as it is planned. To anyone planning to attend the Conference, we also suggest to take in account prevention practices suggested by Organizations or Health authorities of each country.

This 3 hour workshop is designed for scientists and engineers interested in industrial bioleaching who would like to learn about genome biology and metagenomics with special reference to microorganisms involved in bioleaching. Topics to be covered include:
Primer in fundamental aspects of molecular biology and bioinformatics for the non-specialist, pipeline for genome projects, gene annotation techniques, metabolic reconstruction, genetic regulatory pathways, accessing web genome information, comparative genomics, metagenomics, importance of genome biology for understanding bioleaching dynamics.
The workshop will be held on Sunday 13th September from 14:00 to 17:00, before the 18th IBS Opening Ceremony. Those who are interested in participate, please contact Dr. Edgardo Donati (donati@quimica.unlp.edu.ar) for more details
Dear Author,
IBS Organizing Committee is pleased to announce that the Last-minute Presentation Call is open till May 20th for all those willing to send a contribution to 18th International Biohydrometallurgy Symposium.
The symposium will take place 13-17 September 2009 at the Edelweiss Hotel, Bariloche Argentina. The main topics are
- Microbial Ecology,
- Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
- Mineral Processing
- Bioremediation, Environmental Protection and New Materials
Abstracts should contain Title, Authors, Affiliations and Addresses and a Text with up to 300 words including objectives, main results and conclusions. The abstract as doc file can be sent to info@ibs2009.org.ar.
Those abstracts finally accepted will be published in the Abstracts Book and will be presented as posters in the Conference. For that, at least one of the authors must be registrated. The full registration fee allows the presentation of a maximum of two papers while the registration fee for students allows the presentation of one paper.
